Legal Action Against DRESS CAMP　ドレスキャンプとの裁判についてのお知らせ

I had been taking legal action against well known Japanese fashion brand "DRESS CAMP" (http://www.dresscamp.jp/) since October 2011 for the case regarding their "extremely resemblant" products with one of my artworks. It has just been over in January 2013. Although it wasn't a "winning lawsuit", but a compromise that was made in and authorized by the court, the result came out almost as I expected and they published an official "apology" on their website. This is my message to each and everyone of you. As an artist, I want as many people as possible to acknowledge this case. It's not just my personal struggle that took a process of lawsuit more than a year, but something about social respect to all the creators in general. APOLOGY from DRESS CAMP(English Translation): It turned out that 8 items (shirt, fur parker, smooth V-neck T-shirt, stand down vest, down jacket, leggings, boxer short and stole) from our 2010/2011 AW Collection had textile design with extreme resemblance to a work of painting, "Untitled (Fractal Edge)", created by Japanese artist, Oyama Enrico Isamu Letter, pointed out by himself. We deeply apologize to Mr. Oyama for all the inconvenience caused.Furthermore, we will in the future show our full respect to the efforts made by Mr.Oyama and any other artists to make sure this case will not happen again.
ここ１年ほど、日本のアパレルブランドであるドレスキャンプ（http://www.dresscamp.jp/）の商品８型に用いられているデザインが、ぼくの作品のひとつに「極めて類似」しているという件をめぐって裁判をしていました。2011年のはじめに友人経由でこれらの商品の存在を知り、同年10月に裁判を開始したのですが、2013年１月にはいり、ようやく下記の通り「謝罪広告の掲載」という結果が出ました。「勝訴」ではなく「和解」であり、公式に著作権侵害が認められたわけではありませんが、事実上、こちらの主張が概ね認められたかたちと言ってよいかと思います。これは、ぼくの個人的な問題、あるいはぼくとドレスキャンプの当事者間の問題に留まらず、広く、社会のなかにおけるすべてのクリエイターの権利と尊厳に関わる問題です。したがって、少しでも多くの方に知って頂けばと思っています。関心のある方、共感された方は、ぜひ拡散にご協力ください。日本語の原文および問題となった商品画像は下記リンク先にあります。どうぞ、宜しくお願いします。

Essay "Live-painting and Japanese Visual Culture"　拙稿「日本の視覚文化と「ライブペインティング的なもの」」

My brand new essay "Live-Painting and Japanese Visual Culture" is contributed to the catalog of group exhibition "Der Sturm; The Storm for Art and Popular Culture" that is currently being held in Nagoya city, Japan. The essay discusses the art form of Live-Painting through Japanese 00's live-painting phenomenon, Seki-Ga (impromptu drawing performance at gathering) in Edo period and GUTAI in post-war Japanese modern art scene. The exhibition and the catalog is curated and edited by Hiroki Tsutsui. Only in Japanese.
拙稿「日本の視覚文化と「ライブペインティング的なもの」」を、名古屋で開催中のグループ展「であ、しゅとぅるむ」展カタログに寄稿しました。ゼロ年代のライブペインティング現象から江戸時代の席画、戦後日本のアートシーンにおける具体美術協会などを事例に、ライブペインティングという表現形式ついて検討しています。展覧会およびカタログのキュレーション、編集は筒井宏樹氏です。

Interview + lecture on IMA graduating exhibition catalog　先端芸術表現科卒業制作展カタログにインタビュー＋レクチャー掲載

My interview and lecture document are contributed to the catalog of graduation exhibition of Intermedia Art department, Tokyo university of the Arts, where I also got my master degree in 2009. The graduation exhibition is up until 31st January 2013. Only in Japanese.
